Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live’s Wake Up To Money, Kompany said: “You get better home advantage depending on the atmosphere that you can create within your facilities, and that is linked to the people who enter your stadiums. The Premier League is generating two or three times the revenue of the other top five leagues in Europe, so at what point do you realise that your revenues are that big as a TV product, and the revenue from match-day tickets is only getting smaller?

“At what point do you decide we are actually now going to make sure if it is a TV product, it is the best product in the world? Meaning not just the best players, but the best atmosphere in the stadium; meaning the right people in the right place.”

Kompany, who has been at City since 2008, in which time the club has been transformed into one of the world’s richest, added: “Those that live for the club, are probably more attached to the club than anybody else. But those are probably not always the guys who can afford it.

“We know the Premier League can still grow. The question is at what point do you reach breaking point where you squeezed so much out of your people at home?”

Kompany, 31, who is likely to be part of the Belgium squad that faces England in their World Cup group in Russia this summer, added: “If you assume the Premier League gets bigger and you gain markets in China, India, Africa, America, you could fill the grounds with tourists. You can do it, and make more money. They’d just come and spend £400 a ticket, it’s nothing for them because it is a once in a lifetime experience, like going to an NBA or NFL game. The question is if that affects your product, as the Premier League?”

Talks in depth about him undertaking his masters business administration course.

I know many say he a potential future manager of City, but I disagree.

I think Kompany has every chance of being Sorriano’s successor.

Our Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

We can be so proud to have such a great footballer, leader and human being as our captain. Hopefully he'll continue working in the club when he hang up his boots.

Brilliant from our Captain. Doesn't have to get involved in this in the slightest but chooses to for no other reason than the good of football. What he's saying isn't ground breaking, it's quite simple and most match going fans have probably said the same, but for a somebody in a position like Vinnie is in to come out and say this is amazing. Maybe, just maybe others will soon follow and echo his comments enough that the FA can't ignore it.

It's scandalous that most Premier League clubs could allow free admission for every supporter in a season for the price that top clubs pay for a 4th choice centre back. If the broadcasters included a reasonable ticket-cap in the contract for the TV rights, you could get 70,000 through the gate for most teams, meaning a better atmosphere, meaning a better TV product.

If we had Bundesliga prices in this country we could build a 70k stadium easily.

United could pack out 120k on £15 admission.

Arsenal could get 100k

Its about time people in the game opened their eye and looked at the empty seats at most games in all grounds. Time to give something back to the supporters. In Germany supporting a team is probably a third of the cost.

It’s now priced out of the reach of many people, even watching at home is an expensive affair, and can be even more costly.
What’s evident over the Xmas period is the empty seats in many games, Xmas is a time for giving, so give back, make the seats at least half price for adults and a fiver for kids

I wrote to KAM and told him build it and they will come, this being a reference to the stadium expansion but the major proviso was the ticket price. The biggest factor is the average age of the PL fan, younger fans are both priced out of attending and unable to get tickets. There is a trend happening empty seats are seen for most games now and they need to wake-up before it's too late, going to matches is a habit and once it stops it harder to get get fans back. City increased prices by 10% for this season and this was a major own goal I hope that they got the message for next season they should reduce them by 30% across the board and the following season a further reduction stop the greed as the ticket revenue is a small percentage of overall revenue. Well done to Vinny for speaking out. I never got a reply, even Swales would reply, so it was disappointing
