Could any body explain why my school which was Ladybarn Secondary Modern School was pulled down .

for a new faith school? My guess would be Catholic or Islam - possibly Klingon

Possibly too many Cittee supporters .
But i have been fascinated that possibly 15/20 years ago it just happened and the primary school that is next door and still thriving .

Because under Blair there was a promise to make all secondary schools modern buildings fit for purpose.
Thus we ended up with the nonsense of secondary schools built in the 1960/70s being demolished and replaced whilst the children going to them were starting out in festering piles that were Victorian buildings with no plans for replacement.
An example being Stanley Grove Primary school. Built in 1902, horrible building, totally unsuited as a modern primary school.
