There is no difference however i have (or had) the choice when my kids were younger not to take them to a circus or sea world type place and instead tried to take them to places they could see animals in the wild rather than in a zoo or a pool.
I took my girls to see City at Maine Road and although they witnessed plenty of clowns in action I would never have expected to have seen a bear being brought on to "entertain" the crowds

We did have Bernie Clifton riding on an Ostrich once tho so we're not as clean as we'd like to think we are.
