Just read this in the DT:

Liverpool have requested a meeting with Uefa, Roma and Italian police to address concerns over fan safety at next week's Champions' League tie. It is understood Liverpool have become increasingly frustrated with the lack of detailed arrangements jin response to their request for clarity on a number os security issues for Wednesday's semi-final second leg.

Jeez FC! i thought that there couldn't be anything else to make up but this club continues to confound. What a bunch of hypocritical bastards! The Roma, Lazio, Inter, AC, Cagliari et al fans need to provide a welcoming party. No violence, you understand, just a welcoming party!

Can't see the usual ticketless mob going over to Italy next week. Must be sad when you go abroad worrying about getting robbed only to have your tickets dipped by fellow scousers.

Were there two Heysel Stadium Disaster's?
The one I remember was caused by drunken mayhem, resulting in a lengthy ban from Europe, and a number of people imprisoned.

You are missing the point...

ITS NEVER THEIR FAULT

Clear enough?

;)

How would we feel if one of ours was fighting for his life after being attacked in the street?

Many of the posts on here are way out of order.

The reality is that most of Roma's games with English teams over the last 17 years have been marred with similar fan violence. In fact there's a long history of violence going back to the eighties. in 2001, six Liverpool fans were stabbed around a UEFA Cup tie in Rome. In 2006, three Middlesbrough fans were stabbed in the same city when attending a UEFA Cup tie. A year later, five Manchester United fans were stabbed before a Champions League group game. In 2009, a bus of Arsenal supporters was ambushed by Roma fans - they smashed the windows, stopped the bus, and one fan got on board and stabbed an English fan. In 2012, a Spurs fan received treatment for stab wounds following an assault by Roma fans. And last year, Chelsea fans drinking in an Irish bar were attacked by masked Roma fans wielding metal bars.

I know they knocked us out of the CL but we are just looking bitter and obsessed with these posts.

Their fans have every right to be shitting themselves about going over to Rome. Brits get no protection abroad and its wrong how were treated. They'll be trouble and innocent people will be badly and possibly even fatally hurt but at the end of the day, if your club do nothing to discourage and even actively encourage thuggish behaviour it's inevitable it's only going to attract even bigger thugs to the table. That express article was a little over the top but the core concept of it remains true.

Just seen the news that arsenal have been charged by uefa for fireworks and smoke bombs and that charge will be dealt with on May 4th, so why is it taking so long for the Liverpool hearing? Putting money on it being swept under the rug.
