Living in Bury?

Wow, that is a blast from the past. I thought Rebeccas was the one over the top of the old fish market, but @Dogtanian has me wondering if I'm right or not....had many a sleep and many a beer since those days :D
Atmosphere above the fish market mate, Rebeccas was below Dixons then changed to Sams 100%

Bennys was part owned by Bryan Robson and part owned by one of the Sweeneys who had the firm Stormseal if i remember rightly
The Sweeney brothers owned Stormseal in the early eighties until it folded.....

Anyone remember these old Bury businesses?

Sam Taylors on Silver Street

Rod Brooks on Minden Parade

Pilkington Cycles

The very first tiny JD shop, in exactly the same place they are now

Bunn's secondhand shop....."You won't be done if you sell to Bunn"

The Vac shop on Broad Street

Lawless's hardware stall in the indoor market

Booth's newsagents where the 02 shop is now

The organ loft

Steve's model shop on Bolton Street

James Sandiford Motorcycles on Walmersley Road.

All long gone...........

Loved Muze, got all my Smiths t-shirts there, Vibes was for the heavy metal guys they used to sit on that bench outside growling at anyone with a short back and sides, Alan Booth who owned the newsagents was a lovely guy, bought my first off road bike from James Sandiford, Is Lawless now not the Hardware stall on the flea market? thought it was same people and i think everyone bought from Pilkingtons.

Vibes, on Princess Parade was run by Tony and his wife, who sadly died around twenty years ago and his son Chris used to run Muze, which was where BHS is now. Prior to that Vibes was a double unit, Openshaws newsagents, with a small record department also run by Tony.

Not the same people on the Lawless hardware stall, but still in the same place on the corner of the indoor market.
