Maine Road in one sentence

Iconic football stadium wrecked by a man in a wig, who wore Cuban heels and couldn't see any stanchions.

Queuing up at the club shop, buying a program, climbing the stairs to the kippax, hearing the moaning and cheering, half time cuppa and the bus trip back to piccadilly.

shit hole, but it was our shit hole
It wasn't that much of a shithole. By the time we left in 2003 two of the stands were no more than ten years old and the North Stand had seats put in no ore than 25 years before (when you think we've been at the Etihad 14 years now)

The real sad thing about Maine Road was it went from a giant landmark stadium built to hold 85000 people, to an ill thought out, poorly planned, poorly designed hotchpotch of a stadium that held just 35000

One of the main reasons we lost our identity as one of the top 6 clubs in this country was the way the club reduced us from what Maine Road originally was to what we left it as.
