Manchester Tart

Manchester Tart , pastry base thick layer of strawberry jam , filled with custard , topped with coconut , bananas were added , when queen Victoria came to Manchester , so the story goes

Manchester Slag as it was known and a regular on the desert menu at Strangeways in the 90's. A pastry, jam and custard concoction sprinkled with grated coconut.
Always thought the kitchen screws made this name up.

A more pertinent question is WTF is a cornflake pie? You posh bastard.

Food of the gods is what it is, or more accurately, was.
It would come to the table in a big tray and the dinner ladies would cut it up and bang some custard on it. Luckily for me my Grandma was that dinner lady so i always got a corner piece and any leftovers.

Now, yer Manchester tart is pastry, custard, jam, some runny stuff that was probably jam as well, and a cherry on top. No fucking bananas or coconut nonsense.

Andif anyone is moved to make a cornflake pie could you send me a slice ta.
