Mancini: 'Roma equal to Man City'
Roberto Mancini believes “Roma are not inferior to Manchester City and can get a result with Bayern Munich.” The Giallorossi will take on CSKA Moscow, Bayern and Mancini’s former club in the Champions League Group E.
“Roma’s group is certainly the most complicated in the draw,” Mancini told Sky Sport Italia. “Other than CSKA Moscow, it will be a very tough group for Manchester City as well and therefore wide open.
“This is Manchester City’s fourth Champions League campaign and that experience means a lot. They have to players to win, but there are teams like Real in the past who proved great players aren’t always enough.
“Roma have a good chance of going through and can do well in this group. They are not inferior to Manchester City and can also get a result with Bayern.”
Juventus are in a relatively simple Group A with Atletico Madrid, Olympiacos and Malmo.
“Juve learned last year that nothing can be taken for granted in the Champions League,” added Mancini, whose Galatasaray knocked the Bianconeri out. “Let’s also not forget that Olympiacos made life very difficult for Manchester United last season.”
Real Madrid won the Champions League with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm and remain one of the favourites in Mancio’s view.
“Barcelona are an unknown quantity we want to discover, then I say Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea.”
