Me and 4 or 5 mates were on a weekender in Sheffield, stopping at another mates house who was a student there

It was the only home match I missed all season

Obviously no smartphones or anything to keep up with the score so the first I knew was when we turned on Grandstand final score for the teleprinter

Didn't know whether to laugh or cry when it came up

"Manchester City 10 (ten) Huddersfield Town 1"

The ten in brackets just in case you thought it was a typing error

A few days later I think we put 6 past Plymouth? I was at that one

No that was an FA Cup tie a few seasons earlier when Mark Lillis did the silly dance in front of the Kippax :-)

Still got the highlights but no VHS player. Remember them describing Huddersfields kit as looking like a bruised banana. Left the match at 7-0 to get home for a family do. Got the programme signed retrospectively by the 3 hatrick scorers. Waited until about 2005 to get the final signature, Paul Stewart.
