Mats Hummels to follow Juan Mata's lead.

As much as I appreciate charity I find this all too 'PR' for my liking.

I mean 1%? It's a lot, especially on their wages. But surely there are footballers who give more of their wage annually without it being an obligation? And surely there have to be a few of the more religious footballers (Particularly muslim/christian) who give 10% of their wages away as per religious instruction. We don't hear about them!

As far as I'm concerned if you need to tell someone you're charitable then you're almost certainly doing it for your own ego.

Good on Mata and Hummels though. Despite my cynicism, charity is still charity, regardless of why it's being given.

Good on them. And the publicity will hopefully encourage others to do the same.
