Under 18s had a 16 man squad and nine of the squad are only 15 years old. Under 16s also played down there today and won 1 nil with 6 under 15 players in the team

Much better strategy than steamrolling teams with same age players who are already superior.

The kids don't learn anything if they win at a canter each week. Even if winning does breed confidence it's not as essential as playing up and taking on more physically developed teams.

Youth football is not really about having a trophy winning all conquering juggernaut, nice though it seems
Player development is the be-all-and-end-all for the academy. Patience and coaching matter more than cups. There would have to be some kind of handicap system to make results relevant, wont happen so as you were.

Completely agree with the points above. Beating teams every week by multiple goals isn't going to go a long way in pushing these kids, but they'll learn some valuable lessons with narrow wins or defeats against lads a year or two older than them. I love this strategy that the club seem to be taking.

Jason Wilcox deserves the credit for this. Mark Allen was obsessed with trophies, not development.
