Alright it's milwall they are a shower of twats but still disgracefull that they are possibly being forced to move over 100 mile away to the kent coast as the local council consider a CPO to sell land onto developers

part of the article below

Millwall Football Club have admitted for the first time that they may be forced to leave their south London home and relocate to Kent should the seizure of their land go ahead. Lewisham council’s plan to compulsorily purchase areas around the Den and sell them on to a mysterious offshore developer with connections to the current Labour administration has already drawn both disbelief and mass protest.

With the CPO likely to be confirmed at a council meeting next Wednesday Millwall have conceded publicly for the first time the club could have to leave the area that has been their home since 1910. In a statement Steve Kavanagh, their chief executive, told the Guardian: “The chairman has always been determined that this would never happen, but under such circumstances any and every option would have to be considered to secure the football club and the Millwall Community Trust’s future as viable concerns.”

Millwall have so far been cautious about conceding relocation might be the real threat. But with the community trust already set to be evicted and the club excluded from the benefits of the regeneration scheme, it also emerged last month that their academy may be unable to function under the current proposals.

Keep meaning to post something about this, which is a shocking story. The council is selling land around the stadium, which Millwall currently rent and offered to buy, to an offshore-registered company called Renewal. No one knows who really owns this company as it's registered in the Isle of Man and Britih Virgin Isles but it was originally set up by a former mayor of Lewisham & the CEO is a former council officer and colleague of the current council leader. The current Lewisham mayor is involved with another company related to Renewal.

The whole thing stinks of the worst kind of local political corruption. Barney Ronay at The Guardian is all over this story but, to no one's great surprise, the rest of the media who are criticising Pep's press conference aren't running with it.

They could offer to share costs with Wet Spam at their new ground....

Reading those articles it's sounds as corrupt as the local politics that their rivals used to secure the QES.

This happens all too often. Bent bast**ds. The problem is, money goes a long way to greasing the wheels. A lot of former council employees seem to find these backhand ways of sticking their noses in the trough.

I can't imagine this will go through - CPO's are very difficult at the best of times. The press are on to this - i would be amazed if this gets through!

I'd imagine the good burghers of Kent are thrilled at the prospect of those lovely Cockney rogues coming down to their county.
They should find a ground in Brixton to prove they've turned over a new leaf.
