Millwall being forced to move

this sounds dodgy as fuck. the council sound corrupt as anything. possibly wiping out a 100 year old + club for money. most of london will soon be luxury flats.

Wash your mouth out lad. But yeah, them Liverpool Spurs or Millwall, preferably some combination of options A,B,C and D although if it was the dippers or the rags they'd just commercialise it.

Nearly all of it already is. Let them build an imaginary city based on imaginary inflated house prices and a fantasy way of life. Its the only way the country will come to its senses and settle down to some kind of reality, it will go pop. Leased Range Rovers and deferred pensions are not the way forward, but Lewisham Council are the thinnest possible edge of that wedge

I'm confused.

You said if you could pick one team to be kicked out of their home and I said those ****s in Trafford?

Id send the Rags to the Far East where the ****s belong.

Ah well they're plastic anyway, wouldn't bother them too much, same with the dippers, we'd soon have "those magical floodlit nights in Shanghai" or some similar bollocks. It would hurt Millwall though.

Fair point well made.

They quite happily sold off their own training pitches. I hope this puts them out of business.

Keep meaning to post something about this, which is a shocking story. The council is selling land around the stadium, which Millwall currently rent and offered to buy, to an offshore-registered company called Renewal. No one knows who really owns this company as it's registered in the Isle of Man and Britih Virgin Isles but it was originally set up by a former mayor of Lewisham & the CEO is a former council officer and colleague of the current council leader. The current Lewisham mayor is involved with another company related to Renewal.

The whole thing stinks of the worst kind of local political corruption. Barney Ronay at The Guardian is all over this story but, to no one's great surprise, the rest of the media who are criticising Pep's press conference aren't running with it.

It's a disgrace. Forget the fact that it's Millwall for a few minutes and imagine if we rented a stadium and in a stroke the council pulled the rug due to greed, back handers and dodgy deals.

100%. I might be wrong (probably am) but Millwall could arguably have the most central of all the London grounds. It's so close to London Bridge, which is undergoing huge redevelopment, that it's no surprise that some greedy off-shore businessmen/short-sighted council folk are looking to cash in. It's one thing stealing their ground if there's a viable alternative, but with the London property market there will be nothing available to them other than to share with either Charlton, Palace or West Ham or to move way out of the way to Kent/Essex. This probably serves as a huge warning to any club that doesn't own their own ground (see Coventry for an equally large shit show).
