i over the years have heard many wild things about this game. i attended the game myself but being only young was sheltered from most of the goings on but have heard some wild stories and whould like to know if people can verify or dispel these stories
1. as soon as the game ended and the city fans attacked there buses and broke the windows of the coaches with fire extingishers therefore leaving them no way to get home
2. millwall fans then went onto rusholme and smashed most shops and some residents
3. some of the rusholme shops were done by city fans
4. there was a crimewatch apeal about it
whould like to finally know the truth . thanks blues

Millwall brought a huge firm and got off the train at Stockport.

they had a scuffle with some Reds at Stockport station.

When they arrived in Mcr they were heavily escorted to the ground.

In the ground they threw seats and got them thrown back.

A massive City firm gathered outside after and had scuffles with the police, who succeeded in pushing them all the way back to Wilmslow Road. Millwall were kept in the grounmd then escored back down Lloyd Street.

City's lads made their way to town and smashed up some of the shops in Rusholme.

Attempts were made by both sides to meet but it never happened.

City later had a battle with United when they got back from Forest.

That's basically it.

I was at this game and was sat in the Platt Lane End. I just remember the Millwall fans goin mad ripping seats out of the away end and throwing them over towards the kippax and the north stand. As far as I know that night it was the Millwall fans that had done all the shop down rusholme as they were goin home.

But for all we know it could have been the minority few city fans as well.

It was not the Millwall fans but City fans who smashed up Rusholme.

and it was on Crimewatch I think.

An acquaintance of mine turned up in the pub later that night festooned with jewelry. He looked lika a refugee from the A-Team minus the mohican!

Why would City fans smash up their own city? Maybe Kippax88 can help us with that sort of logic!

Because they were hyped up, frustrated and probably racist as well. And every lad who ever threw a punch for City turned out for that one.

I remember this day, I was going to go and watch Wolves with my mate who obviously supports them, we were waiting at Stockport station and hundreds of them came down from Edgeley and we were on the opposite platform, we had one of them horns and a big Wolves flag, so started tooting that and waving the flag, then coins started whistling our way and a police officer advised it was probably not a good idea.

After they all got on the train, we thought it looked more fun to go to City than Wolves, so went and got the bus up, we managed to get 3 tickets for about £40 for the main stand, and watched as they were throwing chairs back and forth, can't really remember anything from after the game, but remember seeing something on that Donal Macintyre thing with Chelsea.

You were going to go to Wolves when City were at home?

The Donal MAckintyre thing is true.

He did an undercover programme where he infiltrated Chelsea's hooligans.

He also met a lad who followed Reading and occasionally Chelsea who had joined uop with Millwall for that game. I think Mackintyre may have even travelled with them. There was some footage of City fans rioting with the police I think.
