Manchester United have today issued a statement to argue that the League cup semi final on wednesday night against their City rivals should be postponed.

With heavy snow in Manchester and more predicted, the board feel it would be biased towards Manchester City as most of their supporter base is from Manchester. Whereas an estimated 72% of the tickets sold to United supporters are to those based outside of Manchester, to be specific London, Ireland and also across Europe and Asia.

Due to the snow, the majority of United fans would be unable to travel to the game, giving Manchester City an unfair advantage.

Manchester City Chief Executive Garry Cook said United's arguement was 'pointless in itself' as the City supporters are much more vocal than United's anyway, making no difference to the match atmosphere. He also said "Personally, i don't think it's anything to do with the weather, i think they've just bottled it because of their injury situation".

Manchester City are also missing Robinho, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Adebayor and captain Kolo Toure amongst others but were more than willing to play the exciting cup tie.

The game will now be played on 19th January at 7:45pm.

If City Reach the league cup final, they will were a special shirt to mark the occasion

That sounds about par for the course. Whoever heard of calling off a game 36 hours before KO?
There's plenty of time to get the transport situation cleared up in Manchester by tomorrow night. Manure are always a 'special case', and get away with it. Of course this match has added importance for the scum, after their exit from the FA Cup on Sunday, LOL.
