Newcastle fans today

And the Villa call is spot on too, what do they get these days 30k? Didn't we get that in the third tier?
Villa got just over 33,000 on Saturday, when we played Stoke back in 98' we got just shy of 31,000. We were there then, and fuck me we were a type of shite only Bournemouth and Swansea would understand.

So did Hitler. Means nothing if you're a bunch of wankers.
true....so they are shit, with a massive fan base ,of wankers....Not shit with just a few fans, all of them wankers , like Millwall :)

They're in a low population area in the country, in a small city, are the only club in that city but the biggest club in the region. They are a big club but because they're the biggest club around (where they are) they always come across to me like they think they're a really big important club in this country, when they aren't.

In that city they don't have others to tell them the reality. They go unchallenged in their "we're big here so we must be big everywhere" outlook.

If they had Everton United and Liverpool in their region like we do (all clubs that have won more than us and Newcastle) I think they'd reign it in with their arrogance or delusions.

Newcastle certainly draw support from a large area. I worked in Carlisle for a brief spell and most the locals used to support Newcadtle. Similarly a surprising number travel from Edinburgh. I have seen them at the station when the have an early kick-off.

Their only local competition is from Sunderland and a handful of small teams and Middlesbrough, some distance away.

Compare that to the North West with large numbers of Premier League and Championship teams.

I was 11, and we (me, and my ma and pa) had tickets in the Newcastle end of the ground that day. When Doyley went up to lift the cup, two of them kindly hoisted me up on their shoulders so I could see everything, so my view of the Barcodes has never been one of hatred - although I can obviously see why yours would be! The media hype about what great and loyal fans they are (despite just 9000 of them turning up against Swindon that time) is a perpetual irritant, and like many others I prefer West Ham and Sunderland as a result, but overall I've always found Newcastle fans to be amenable working class lads, and largely devoid of the bitterness of say Spurs and Everton. Certainly there's far worse out there

Someone at my school had a run-in with some Geordies after the final but the ones we encountered after the game were fine. My Dad, Our Kid and I were in a shop buying a drink after the game and a couple of them walked in and congratulated us on the win.

I do recall being in Newcastle one Saturday, was there to play in a 5-a-side tournament for work, back the early eighties and the Magpies were home to Leeds. We were driving through toon as the Leeds fans were being escorted from the station and tracking them on adjacent streets were all these Geordies, many with mohicans. It was like something out of a Western movie!

Did anyone see the fat geordie in a red top mouthing off outside the South Stand, near the City queue's. He had such a lovely view of our parenthood, our shithole of a City, our lack of 'istory. Really jolly chap, with about 6 of his Burberry gimps giving it large. Comical, especially when he got a tug from GMP's finest..
No history ha ha.You could have reminded him that their last major trophy was won against us in 1955 but then you would have had to upset him by also reminding him that our lack of history means we have only won a European trophy, 3 League titles, 3 FA cups and 3 League cups since then.

Why do people get so worked up about opposition fans not showing us due deference? It's football, not fucking rugby union ffs. Some of you need to give your fannies a wipe.

They sing "WWYWYWS" because that's what opposition fans do. Look for the weakest spot and punch it repeatedly. It's nothing personal, it's just being a football supporter.

Most of them are probably too young to remember our brief sojourn into the third tier of English football and even if they do, they're hardly going to sing songs about it.

Some of you are far too precious.
