Olympic Medal Table - deluded cheating Americans

As China have run away with the medals table the USA have decided to use a different system to count all thie silver as Bronze as Gold.

This is such a low trick that I do not think even their public will fall for, and the rest of the world are just laughing at.

the other day ssn showed footage of their sister channel in australia where the newsreaders were having an eppy about the 'poms' winning more golds than them and one of them suggested doing likewise for the same reason.

They should alter the system. Maybe have a Gold counts for 3 points, Silver for 2, Bronze for 1.

Counting just the gold is a bit crap as it doesn't ackonwledge all the athletes that got Silver and Bronze.
Counting them all together obviously is a bit crap too, as a country with 7 Bronze medals would rank higher than a country with 5 golds and a silver.

I heard an interview on 5 Live the other day with an Aussie sports journalist.
He was very open and magnanimous about how Team GB has performed. He explained GB's teriffic results by saying that we as a nation have chucked money (mainly lottery funding) into sport and money equals medals. He then said no one should reallly be that surprised with our results. When asked about how various media in Australia were comparing the medal table, he said it was extremely sad that some were counting a medal total or even medals per head of population.
What he did say that was quite incredible is that when all the medals are added from all Olympics, Australia was only two behind Britain.

I think Steve Ovet said the same thing about the medal table this morning on the telly. He had some good points to make and was in a way slating the Team GB running team for being crap but for all the other sports he was praising them. It too hard to win any sort of medal on the track for British or European teams as they just cant cut it with the Americans and Africans teams. Between them they have the short and long distance races won.
