Parliament to have FA "no confidence" debate next week

I find it astonishing that something as big as the FA (and likely SFA) does not have an intelligence hub of sorts to look into any kind of criminality regarding any faction of British football, inclusive of referees.

That's probably why little gets done, because the Police are understaffed and overworked with looking after the public.

It needs someone to bring the investigation package ready made to the authorities rather than the Police always having to take up the mantle and work it from cradle keep to grave.

If those in charge have to choose, this, unless hugely serious or political, will always come second.

(maybe astonishing is to strong a word as the recent no confidence vote speaks volumes)

Quite a tricky issue though. Government, that supposed to be able to run the country but can't, getting involved in the FA, who should be running football but can't! They do need to be very careful though, as FIFA will have no truck with government interference in football. Any hint of it and the country is banned from international competition. Not sure the government will want to go down that route, with all that is at stake.

Whilst I wouldn't lament the passing of international football it would also mean no CL or Europa league. Although no European football does sound appealing sometimes I can't see a lot of the top players staying around if that should happen.

Absolutely not in support of the FA but, as is often the case, Martin Samuel sums it up quite well.
