Honestly a little dissappointed in that, thought we might get a little more insight but to me at least it just sounds like standard lines we'd expect anyone at the club to make.

He's just being realistic. He won't go overboard about good performances on loan, because all City players should look good on loan at lower level teams. The fact that many haven't in the past is basically because they weren't good enough. Most of them have now gone.

He will have a look at the likes of Huws, Rekik etc at the start of next season & see how they fit in with our players. Then he can decide.

With the World Cup having been played in the summer, Huws, Rekik, Lopes, and others should all get decent game time pre season. If any step up, they may get more time with the senior players.

Denis Suarez got a pre season opportunity to impress like that & was bobbins, as was Rekik at the end of last season. Suarez was older, so they didn't bust a gut to keep him. They need to at least look the part in those games when the chance comes.

I disagree personally on Denis Suarez not being good on pre-season, he was given 1 half of a game in SA if I remember, not enough time.

He has gone to Barcelona and is a regular scoring a few goals in their B team, playing in their equivalent of our Championship division I think.

He is also training at times with the first team.

He was never going to get the chance at City, in my opinion it looked like he never really enjoyed his time in Manchester, not many photos you see of him are with him smiling, yet in a short space of time you can see how happy he is at Barcelona, but he also does follow City and keeps an eye on our scores so you never know he might come back.

Good luck to him and I hope he does well.

^ Suarez could be promoted to Barca's first team next season according to a recent report in Marca.

If so, it'd prove a lot of naysayers on here wrong about him. Roman is the one who was no real loss, he's a good player but is going to end up somewhere like Espanyol. Suarez could go all the way and has been doing very well for their B team, plus was recently called up and capped by Spain U21 (may not sound anything special but the competition is immense).

On the plus side, if he is promoted to the Barca first team it will still be good for City: <a class="postlink" href="http://twitter.com/City_Watch/status/370517090026811392" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://twitter.com/City_Watch/status/370517090026811392</a>

To be fair I don't think there were many naysayers at all. Just disappointed that he didn't want to stick it out in Manchester, but if you're home sick then there's nothing to do but to let the lad go with everyones blessing. Good luck to him.

Has Roman not already signed for Villareal or is that just a loan?

Loan.

Barcelona has decided to loan out Barça B midfielder Joan Roman for the remainder of the season. The 20-year-old will join Liga BBVA club Villarreal until June 30th 2014.

Roman made 16 appearances for the reserves in the first half of the season, 10 of which were in the starting XI. He’s managed to score two goals and has provided one assist.

Roman joined Barcelona B in the summer of 2012 from Manchester City. Before going to England, he had played in the Espanyol youth ranks. He made one first team appearance in 2012/2013, playing a pre-season friendly under Tito Vilanova.

Roman joins Atlético Madrid youngster and fellow loan signing Oliver Torres (a player Barça are rumored to own a first purchase option on) at the Yellow Submarines.

Suarez showed absolutely nothing when promoted to City's first team squad & looked nothing like a potential Premier League player.

He did ok in the reserves, but nothing more, he rarely lived up to hopes & expectations. Of course some players go up a level later in their careers & can make it elsewhere, but we can't keep everyone just in case they do. He could learn from & be suited to Barca's style. But I very much doubt Suarez will be anything more than a bit part player at Barca, if that.

To some on here though, it seems if a player can tie his own shoelaces & make an occasional pass, he should go straight into City's squad. We can only have so many players.

Most of the midfield players we have now, are performing better than Suarez did imo. Some will get a chance in friendlies & lesser cup games. If they look out of their depth, they will be lucky to get another unless they are very young & promoted ahead of their time. Even if they have a poor game, they should show 'something'. Lopes at 16, looked way better than Suarez at 18, even on a bad day, when struggling.

If Suarez had really looked the part, we would have really pushed the boat out in order to sign him up even put him in the first team squad. He has gone, because he wasn't going to break into our team. Many others will do the same. They won't be shit players, just not good enough or not suited to playing for City.
