Pepe

What's his current situation at Real? Is he a regular, and if so why would they sell? Are they not still under a transfer imbargo so couldn't bring in a replacement?
if they sell it's due to his contract running down.

he's older now and has had serious injury issues this season.

Well seeing as we've spent half a billion failling to replace Jolean Lescott so far, it wouldn't be any different.

Lol. The notion we haven't replaced Lescott is laughable. It's only believable if you think everything but Lescott stayed stagnant at City and thus apply the drop in our defense solidity to it being Lescott-less. .

The truth however, is that Every player we've gotten bar Savic has been superior to Lescott while they were here. And had they played on the very same team Lescott did, they'd have been more impressive than Lescott (Not that he ever was actually impressive) . As in fact many of them were while benching Lescott whilst still here.

Who we've been trying to replace the last 4 years isn't Lescott, but in fact it has been Kompany. We are looking for that dominant force on defense, we haven't had on since 2012-13. Replacing Kompany of 4 years ago has been the real issue.

Simply because Kompany is still here, doesn't mean he is 'really' still here. He hasn't been here running on 3 years now, we just pretend he has. And we keep trying to spend to replace him. Not his clearly inferior sidekick whom we replaced long long ago.

Lescott was class. A better partner for Vinnie than Mangala, Otamendi, Nastasic and any other of the 6/10 partners we tried to replace him with. Vinnie and Kompany together were rock solid and our defence began to falter when Mancini tried to shoehorn Nastasic into the team and also tried to change us to a back three when there was clearly no need at the time.

Lescott wouldn't fit into this style of team now, but he was defo a better partner for Vinnie than any of the others defensively.

Now we are trying, & failling, to replace both.

Again, another blue tinted view if Lescott. He was many things, but Class wasn't one of them. Our defense didn't falter coz Lescott was dropped, Frankly so long as Kompany was healthy and on his game our defense stayed rock solid, regardless of his partner. And the rest of our game improved with anyone other than Lescott. Nastacic came in at Real Madrid and simply balled out. We began to falter when Kompany started getting injured constantly and lost form. Becoming an error prone and Injury imminent version of his earlier self. Nothing to do with Lescott.

From Nastacic to Micah, Demichelis to Otamendi , perhaps even Mangala, all were superior players to Lescott. They simply all has the misfortune of playing with a injury prone and diminishing Kompany.

Dropping Lescott was never the problem, not having a consistent and Dominant Kompany was.
