I agree with that - and I also thought he was pretty average on his debut, which was (iirc) a stale 0-0 draw at home.
Edit: just checked, it was a 2-0 win at home to Norwich, but my point remains.
This is how I remember it but admittedly its a long time ago and the memory can play tricks.

The obvious 2 for me in my time as a season ticket holder are Stefan Jovetic and Nery Castillo.
However, I always remember thinking when we signed Andreas Isaksson that he’d be a decent signing. Think he was Sweden’s keeper in World Cup 2006 and we had an aging David James in goal.
Injuries hampered his time with us and a young joe hart took his opportunity and impressed meaning isaksson had limited chances in the 1st team.
