Post Match Thread: City vs Southampton

3 points in the bag but woeful defensively again and any good side could and would have punished us. Need to get back to basics, get everyone fit and keep as close to the top as possible. Re-group in January hopefully

Chuffed with the three points, top of the league until the other City beat the scum.

Caballero was excellent, superb saves. Delph, Kev, Raheem, Kolov, Dinho, Baccari, Nico, all had a great game. Merlin is back. I'll take that.

Happy with the result. Thought Yaya played aggressively well in the first 30 minutes while we were pressing high, then turned to shit? It's evident that he cannot play box to box and when he runs out of gas becomes a bit childish and quite lazy. If he is an absolute choice for first XI, then would be wise for MP to replace him after first 45 minutes, especially when holding a tenuous lead. Thought with the exception of Bony the rest of the side played well.

Hopefully aguero won't be out for as long as expected

According to MP he will be available for Hull if required.

Think they will rest him and play Bony as he is short on confidence.

As for MP's view on Kuns ankle which I think he just rolled we shall see if once again he hasn't given us false hope.

Kompany and Zaba and Mangala have been out much longer than expected this season.

My take on today, great first 30 mins. Denied a nailed on penalty and red card for handball. Thought Bony was what we needed when he came on miss aside. Silva made several missed passes yet no one his getting on his case. Roger east made is own laws up with his constant advantage law for them yet when Toure is running through but getting pulled back we get fuck all. He didn't have a clue today and to say he was inept is an understatement. Three points all said and done

Koeman changed their tactics at half-time and it gave them more options up front. We need to be able to react more quickly to a change in tactics. The third took the self-belief away from them and ended up being a reasonably comfortable win in the end.

A poor performance overall. We got through the game on quality alone. No different from any other game this season, still no clear instructions from the manager, everybody is happy to just keep the ball and wait for somebody else to do something productive with it.

players like Sterling are being stifled, he clearly just needs to be told what to do in certain situations. You can see him constantly hesitating on the ball, his first thought is to run at the player then it's like it suddenly clicks the manager doesn't want to lose possession so he cuts back and plays it simple. The way he created the first goal was superb and that's what he needs to be told to do on a consistent basis.

Yaya was decent first 20 minutes then turned to a waste of space, he should of been hauled off around the 50 minute mark but he was bizarrely kept on and at one point it looked like it was going to cost us points.

Kolarov was excellent today, as was Delph. He's a great partner for Fernandinho who was good again. He's finally got somebody who will press the ball with him. Willy should of come out for their goal but he made amends with two important albeit routine saves late on. Everybody else did okay. Baffled at KDB getting MOTM i get he made an important contribution with his "goal" and his set up for Kolarov but thought overall it was one of his poorest games for us. Would of given it to Delph personally.

We got the job done but it's barely even papered over the problems we have, and the majority of them lie with the manager unfortunately and they won't be sorted until that's changed.
