Currently trying to list a car on Auto trader however the Jpeg images have to be less than 4mb. My Camera is a Cannon DSLR and the photographs all seem to be above 5.

Can anyone help me and advise if I can reduce the size of the image.

Cheers in advance

Photoshop has a save for web function or if you want to you can alter the dpi from 240 ( I think that's what Canon shoot at) to 72 dpi which is better for web and will automatically reduce file size.

Also In Camera menu you should be able to locate the screen which allows you to choose the image size you shoot at. Looks like this.

You can do this in MS Paint simply by resizing the image and saving. Takes all of five seconds.
