I think it's a good thing Russia are sending in troops. They will get the job done unlike the west. The west would be under too much scrutiny from the media trying to introduce starbucks and elections. There is no diplomatic solution to Syria, just let the ruskies wipe ISIS out.

It will be very hard for anyone on the west to criticise Putin with any moral authority given the number of rebel groups and even Russian allies we have bombed through my lifetime.

It is also not exactly legally sound in international law to arbitrarily pick which rebel groups you should be allowed to bomb and who can do so.

It is a huge horrible joke, we have bombed ISIS into existence and no want to bomb them out.......

At the moment we can't do anything but allow Putin and the Ruskies to waltz into Syria and mop up. We can't do anything because we tied our own hands aligning ourselves with the rebels and now we would have to go against Russia to get what we wanted. We can't exactly do a U turn now and suddenly support Assad. It is quite ironic that the rebels he is bombing along with ISIS will probably be shooting back with American and British made weapons.

Our involvement in Syria has been a total calamity thanks to indecision and an underestimation of Assad and even ISIS themselves who have pushed hard into the region. Putin can now play a blinder in not only getting things under control but more importantly in mopping up the resources whilst stoking up the Ruble as oil prices rocket.

Russia will come out of this extremely strong providing it isn't a bloodbath, it is worrying how weak both the US and our government have been.
