Ryan Bertrand

There's always Luke Shaw. Hear me out. If PEG really doesn't rate him maybe he'd sell him to us thinking he's getting over on us.

Shaw would qualify as home grown and be our backup left back. I don't think he's as bad a player as PEG thinks he is and has tried to make Shaw believe he is. Pep could restore his confidence and help him reach his potential as opposed to taking the piss out of him in the media day in and day out.

He's injured until December, would cost loads and its unlikely United would even sell him to us. Restoring confidence is one thing - his major issue is he's been a complete hospital pass since his leg break. Constantly injured.

We don't need HG Depth, keeping him would just be unnecessary and he'd likely play even less than last season.

Hopefully we will have a squad like this -

Ederson
Bravo

Walker
Danilo

Kompany
Otamendi
Stones
Kolarov

Mendy

Fernandinho
Gundogan
Yaya
D. Silva
B. Silva
De Bruyne

Sterling
Sané
Sanchez
Jesus
Aguero

17 foreign players, 3 HG. We don't need to keep Delph for depth in a position where we already have Yaya, Gundogan, Fernandinho and even Danilo capable of playing already.

Bertrand makes sense because LB is the one position we're light in and his HG status means he fits, but that doesn't mean we need to keep HG players who aren't going to play for the sake of it. It would make a lot more sense to put that £10m for Delph towards Bertrand.

The other alternative would be to get someone capable of playing LB+CB to replace Kolarov, or keep Maffeo - that way we have 4 full backs and enough cover.
Good overview mate

Then he'd not only replace Delph's home grown spot he'd take his place keeping the medical staff company. :-)

Isn't he in his final year of his contract? We should be able to pick him up cheaply as a back up for Mendy. Personally speaking he is the only player I'd take off them. It's a gamble with his fitness record but he was a good left back before his injuries

Delph could stay now if bertrand is off. Hear me out. Not only could he play left back in a pinch, but if walker and mendy were both unavailable, danilo and dinho could play full back and delph would be an option in midfield. If dinho is effectively 4th choice full back, it makes sense to keep delph as cover for him in midfield. He could also make a solid left back, i am sure of it.

If we he was a good LB he would have played there last season.

Ben Gibson??? HG and prolly cheap? :P

Edit: + hes still young enough to easily pick up Pep's system.. and maaaybe even develop the ball playing technique
