It's significant because one of the reasons the authorities claimed that safe standing shouldn't be introduced was because of the Hillsborough disaster. And understandably there were a lot of Liverpool fans who were also against the idea. Now that it's clear that it was shockingly bad crowd control and fences that caused it, the idea that safe standing isn't inherently unsafe is essentially proven.

Police at city say they don't want to get involved and that it wastes there time - so I think the finger should be pointed firmly at the club, who employ and instruct the turds at showsec

Agree - the only arguement showsec try and throw out is health and safety (yet mms to either side it's not an issue)

Quite right. Standing didn't kill the fans at Hillsborough.

One problem that could arise is that they will only allow a small section of safe standing (say 4,000) but for the rest showsec will be even more vigilant in there efforts to act like dicks and keep people seated

It doesnt improve the overall atmopshere when you just have a standing corner full of piss heads, bit like the Palace ultra crap
