Scum Hunter Shoots Cecil the Lion

I agree too that luring an animal out of a reserve to hunt it is wrong. As someone said though was that the fault of the shooter ( presumed tourist) or the guides ( presumed service provider).

We can moan about hunting lions, but what about shooting birds or fishing? Are they all to be called monsters too?

Sounds like the lion suffered unnecessarily - maybe that is the key crime.

Can't shoot birds where I used to live, it's a sanctuary, never living in one again. Seagulls should be reclassified as 'not protected even in sanctuarys', the filthy flying rats.

its a bit different lions are an endangered animal and this one was in a nature reserve. The guy that did this needs shooting or locking up in a cage full of lions, hopefully his life is ruined now.

Don't particularly see the problem personally. The population of lions needs to be controlled so that they don't rove an unnecessary danger to people/ livestock. Selling licenses seems a perfectly sensible way of doing this esp if the money raised is used in the protection of game reserves. Reading the story the big issue seems to be that this lion was lured out of the game reserve by the approved hunter who accompanied him so it is him who has broken the law not the dentist.

seriously ? first of all it was in a nature reserve. A lion can't help it if people continually build on the land it lives on. the population of lions is going to be extinct at this rate especially in africa, so why are you saying its up to humans to control the lion population, is that the same for every animal now ? if you build houses in area where lions live then what the hell do you expect.

Anyone who kills a wild creature for fun, while the animal has no chance at all of surviving deserves to be shot.

If the animal has no chance at all of surviving surely it's kinder to put them out of their misery?
