Sergio Aguero - 2016/17 performances

Sergio Agüero was fantastic last night.

Admittedly, the Monaco 'keeper should perhaps have done better for our second, but I think he was surprised by the ferocity and suddenness of Kun's shot.

As for the third, Sergio's technique was phenomenal and something that hardly any other player could have done.

He might not possess the searing pace of Sterling, Jesus and especially Sané, but he's no slouch, as he proved, when he burst away from the defenders to set up Leroy for the fifth. It was also incredibly unselfish to square the ball, rather than go for his hat-trick, as a lot would have.

It was also noticeable how deeply he defended at times. It seems he really is buying into what Pep requires of him and the whole squad.

Assuming we win the treble, we've got 23 games left this season; a goal a game for Sergio to break the record.

Piece of piss.

60/1 paddy power...

Now that would be special (: jokes aside, he may just hit the purple patch we have become accustomed to at the right time. It isn't inconceivable that he has another 15 in him before the end of the season, if he does, we win something imo!!!

400/1 with Bet Victor, anyone fancy a flutter?

If Sergio hits form, 15 goals will be an underestimate. The rest of the front 5 are creating at least 3 or 4 opportunities a game for the striker, he could fill his boots, especially as the opposition defences have to focus more and more on Sané and Sterling, which will create more gaps for him.

Sergio Aguero is the 1st player in the club's history to score 20+ goals in a season on five separate occasions. [@GaryJamesWriter]

Fernandinho to @ManCity: "Aguero is very important for us. His history here speaks for itself. No one had doubts about Aguero’s qualities."

Fernandinho: "He showed it (vs. Monaco) - not only by scoring goals, but recovering balls, running, pressing, helping the team."

Unless he leaves in the summer he will walk away from this club as our leading ever goalscorer.

He needs to hit 43 goals for the season to be able to do both he's always had that in his locker if he stayed fit and this team as it is now should be creating more chances for him than ever before.

He can't physically play in all of those games either, certainly not with the way he's being asked to play.... One game at a time I guess, he has these periods where he's about to explode then has a set back, let's hope we can keep him fully fit from now until the end of the season!

He needs to steer clear of the ojo de bife for the next three months!
