This one has a certain ring to it.....

So that’s:
Theyre closer to 7th
Chelsea closer to 12th
Liverpool closer to 16th
And arsenal are in relegation trouble.

yeah but seriously does this affect anything important? if not whats the point?

genuinely asking
It’s actually a better, more accurate (intuitive) way of graphically representing the table than the traditional way as it shows conceptual distance between clubs based on the accumulation of results (points totals). It’s like looking at a table ranking cities by distance away from Manchester versus seeing them on a map with the cities highlighted and distances away shown beside each city. The latter is much easier for someone to use to actually understand the relative spatial positioning (in all directions) and thus plan a trip.

This table shows just how far ahead we actually are by ranking each club by the points total rather than absolute league table position. It also makes it easier to see, for instance, that Arsenal and Spurs are actually closer to relegation than they are to catching up with us.

Is a better table when there is no need to worry about how much space the table is taking on a page.

think there were one on sky yesterday that showed

if we keep on at this pace we will finish on 109 points +88 goal difference and something like 28 points in front of the scum. Now I know that isn't going to happen but its so much fun rubbing the rags noses in it.

This information could be presented as a continuum graph with abbreviations, rather than a vertical table, to make it even smaller (page space wise) than the standard absolute league position table.
