I've not seen this reported anywhere or any mention on this site, but Steve had a stroke on Monday whilst working on an IT project in a University in Leicester. A friend of a friend was working with him when it happened but I've yet to hear any update on his condition.

Great player and the scorer of City's "forgotten" goal in the Spurs Cup Final, which would probably have gone down as the best ever Wembley goal, had Ricky Villa not done what he did.

Thoughts are with his family and here's hoping for a full recovery.

Get well Steve hopefully! A pretty decent player for us in a time of turmoil and you are right, what a goal at Wembley!

All the best Steve, the fantastic goal always gets overlooked by the media.

Wish him a speedy recovery, probably the earliest City goal I remember being scored.

Sad news this, Steve can only be mid fifties as he was only 19 when he hit that sweet volley in 81, favourite ever goal. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Classy player. A great shame I missed that goal cos of arrogant spurs twats who were kicking it off in our end at the time. They were as classless as Steve was classy
