Fixtures released for the new season <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Academy-news/2012/August/Academy-and-EDS-fixtures-released" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Academy-news ... s-released</a>

Hooray, about time a new EDS/academy thread was started.

And good luck to Vladimir Weiss on his Italian adventure after moving to Pescara. Our 2008 FA Youth Cup winning team is nearly all gone now, just a few remaining but probably not for long.

Meanwhile the youth recruitment continues: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.maltesefootballstarlets.com/manchester-city-captures-13-year-oldmaltese-starlet-myles-beerman" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.maltesefootballstarlets.com/ ... es-beerman</a>

Manchester City captures 13 year old Maltese starlet Myles Beerman after the hot prospect showed his valid talent with the MFA Academy.

Remember the name Myles Beerman will be the 2nd Maltese to go through the ranks in the Manchester City Academy after James Paris had a spell few years ago. The talented youngster who was also with the MFA Academy in Italy recently left an impact with his performance throughout the tournament.

The Floriana Nursery midfield player stepped up to initiate interest from the rich Manchester club to capture his services before anyone else. 13 year old Myles Beerman will join the U14 squad for the next 3 years to continue his development within the Academy

I reckon he'll be bossing the rest of the U14 kids when he's 2 years older than all of them :D

Really excited about the increased coverage that the EDS looks like it'll be getting online this season. Even if Suarez, Razak, Rekik are heavily involved with the first team or are out on loan there will still be plenty of names I'll be keen to follow.

#MCFC U19s lost their 3/4th play off place 3-0 to #FCSchalke04 in #Oberndorf this afternoon to end the tournament on a lower note

Have you guys seen the info about the new EDS league that's due to be started this season? This is what we changed our reserves to the EDS over - the proposals to institute a national under-21s structure to better develop youths coming through.

The leagues are broken down by the level of academy category - so we will only contest the Under-21 Premier League with the other category one academies. The actual structure of the league is complicated though. Rather than try to explain it myself, I'm just going to use the Daily Fail's graphic illustrations.

Should make for an interesting set-up. We are in "Nat Group 3" at the start, for the record, with Chelsea being our main opposition.

Liverpool will be tough too, they have a strong youth setup nowadays and finished 2nd in the reserve league behind the rags last season. But a test is what our young lads need after the debacle last season. Both the U18 and U21 leagues are going to be exciting, our youth recruitment has been terrific over the last year (albeit mostly foreigners but hey ho).

I remember last season someone on this forum doing a brilliant run down of who in our academy to look out for and how they played etc, who do I have to blackmail/bribe to see a version for this season :)

It was a great way to get me psyched up for our youngsters, if I recall a lot of praise floated in the direction of Harry Bunn.
