The price of lying

Former employer.

Don't see anything in the report to support that other than her partners word. Don't think anyone could say who lied on just the reported facts. All we know is she was under investigation for fraud, her ex employers are accused of sending a reference saying she was sacked for gross negligence, sadly she committed suicide.

Everything else is guesswork.

Well it's quite clear the article is suggesting it was a false claim, if it is going to court there's only so much they can put in the article until a verdict is given.

Police discovered Mrs Flitcroft had been investigated for possible fraud - but had never been found guilty of any offence

That part is key and it will be easy to clarify with the employer what reference her former player gave.

You didn’t read it then.

She was still under investigation at the time of her death and planned to represent herself.

We do not know why she was sacked or if the two were related.

We do not know to whom the suicide note was addressed.

All speculation as is the headline.

I think it's quite obvious who it was addressed to:
was rejected after her ex-employers wrongly said she had been sacked for ‘gross negligence’. After failing to get another job, she wrote a suicide note saying:

So she was due to get a job in management but was rejected because her ex employers wrongly said she had been sacked for 'gross negligence' and then after failing to get yet another job wrote that suicide note. I'm not too sure of what gross negligence covers maybe someone else can clarify but if fraud comes under that then it's pretty safe to assume it is all related and if they were unable to prove their claims of gross negligence/fraud they had no right giving that reference.
