HMRC win the "big tax case" against the defunct Rangers FC which used EBTs to limit the tax liabilities of players and other staff. It won't affect the current incarnation of Rangers as they are a separate entity but the individuals who benefitted from EBTs can expect a hefty bill landing on their doormat in the near future.
Also a number of English clubs that have used EBTs will now doubtless be contacted by HMRC in relation to unpaid tax and national insurance.

Incidentally Mikel Arteta is listed as one of those impacted by the decision, receiving £630k through the EBT.
