I don't understand this:
They avoid jail and pay £1000 each near enough which they will be well over in a few months if that in all likelihood, while a man lost half his hearing for life, was humiliated and probably shaken by an attack on him and his gf in public for not wanting to be forced out of their own seats(completely not to blame for any of it).
It's not enough of a deterrent for the boneheads who did it not to do it again never mind any others reading it.
Violence is never acceptable and as demonstrated by the fines handed out is taken seriously by the courts.

^Not sure about the forever part, but yeah, they should serve as fodder for the deterrents machine. Punishment is absolutely useless and stupid if it doesn't create deterrent, though we should remember some leopards can change their spots.

This is the honest truth,but someone I know has just received a 4 year sentence for biting off part of someones ear,albeit he claimed it was done in self defence.
He was told by the judge that had he not pleaded guilty,thus saving time and finances on the case,he would have looked at a stretch of up to 11 years.
