U17 Al Ain Tournament

Gareth Taylor: the red card change the match way
Gareth Taylor, Manchester City U17 team head coach said commented on the match lost to Phang Steelers 2-1 at Tahnoun bin Mohammed Stadium in the second match on first day of AIFJC2014 “We started the match good and scored the our goal early but they scored an equalizer goal so early. The match changed dramatically in the second half escpially after the red card to the player numner 9 Isaac Buckley-Ricketts. I don’t know what the referee heard from the player but I have known the player for three years and he is a good player. However this had an impact on the result of the match and our players started to go down after the red card.”

Asked about the hot weather if it affected his team and he replied: “yes it does but I can’t say it is a reason of the result as it is applied to all teams in the championship. Even I watched Al Ain 6-1 Hamburger match and the players got also tired after 30 minutes.”

Asked also if the first loss may affect his team to the title and he said: “We have to compensate in the coming match. However, we can compare this team now to the old ones who won the titles. They are different players but we will do our best to won the coming matches.”

Yes, THE Gareth taylor

Great goal by our lad.
Indeed. Found his name - Yaw Wassi - http://alainift.com/en/readnew.aspx?id=215

The goal scorer was yaw yeboah, a right to dream player previously eluded to at the beginning of this thread
Not according to http://alainift.com/en/readnew.aspx?id=215, it's Yaw Wassi which might be Yvan Wassi?
http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Academy-news/2014/April/Yvan-Wassi-Academy-interview-April-2014. He's Manchester born and joined the academy at 10 years old. He's also left footed which the goal scorer is. There's a very annoying lack of information on the tournament anywhere.

Edit :- looking at his picture and the youtube clip I'm going with Yvan Wassi.

Wassi is apparently a wing back, this lad looked like a natural centre forward.
Yeah, I did notice that but it's a very small clip so perhaps he's been tried on the opposite wing? The lack of information is a wee bit annoying.

We are often easy to score against & concede some right crappy goals at every age group including the first team. It was the same in the last U16s tournament & v Reading last week & Liverpool on Sunday.

Improvement needed in that area, throughout the club, imo. It's one thing passing the ball nicely around the pitch, but you still have to defend properly, which we often don't & we make it easy for the opposition.
