I thought Wythenshawe Pele's contract was up for renewal
If he sees a lack of game time coming and not much dosh, he'll be off

You're absolutely right. There was no special rivalry between the rags and the dippers beyond each wanting to beat the other the same as an other opponent. The derby was always the game the rags wanted to win. This bullshit came about because the GPC brainwashed the rag fans and the nedia into believing that "Liverpool is our derby". This quote was just a less than subtle way of putting a struggling City down. Like many rag myths if these fuckwits repeat a lie often enough it'll become the truth. The latest one is that Sanchez 'snubbed' City and joined United for the history, prestige and the opportunity to wear the number 7 shirt. A club reinvented and sustained on bullshit.

what I find interesting about the names in both lists there is that for the vast majority they are "celebs" who are no longer relevant - a few still have gigs on TV and radio but you seldom see Statto and Deayton these days - indeed quite a few are dead !! Bit like their club I suppose - rapidly becoming irrelevant

I think that all the ex Rags and Dipper players who spout the " biggest " whatever shite , do so to boost their own ego's , or are paid to make their pathetic and childish statements.

Being the " biggest or bestest ...." is to feed the lemmings who only follow those clubs for pretty much the same reasons. Not wanting to stand out from the crowd.

When I was at school, there was a pretty even mix of fans, right until 1958 when the whole world suddenly became United " supporters " . Then the real explosion of Rag fans/ supporters started in 1992. now that is the actual history of United that most of their fuckwit fans nothing about.

Liverpool were obviously very successful with the European Cup successes, but have failed miserably in the PL , despite being a " big " club with millions of fans.

So when these ex players spout their mantra about " biggest , or 'istory " it is to make themselves feel good , and not much more.

the old list of shame hasn't been rolled out for a while.
a little out-of-date & in need of updates, no doubt,
but nonetheless vomitworthy enough to warrant an airing methinks...

Spot-on. Growing up in Manchester in the 60s and 70s my Rag mates never mentioned Liverpool. It was always about City and United. In fact in those days they had a bigger rivalry with Spurs and even Chelsea (this was a Manchester London thing) It was a rivalry made up by Ferguson as soon as he knew that Liverpool were in decline. It has grown legs beccause of the growth of fans across the world in places like Asia as well as the social media fanboy happy clappers in places like Essex. It was just a convenient way for Ferguson to try and belittle City. Our own rivalry with Liverpool in the mid to late 70's was pretty intense, mostly fuelled by hooliganism. Of course the two cities of Manchester and Liverpool have always been commercial rivals but United are not even based in our city are they?
