Dont think dippers offered anything like 60mill, They got the player on board and tried to get him out of Southampton for a lower fee. Whether its this summer or next southampton will get 40 - 50 million for him. If he stays and keeps his head down he might get himself a better move, same way Suarez did when Liverpool refused his Arsenal move.

Much depends on where he wants to go. If his preferred options were one of City, rags, dippers or the chavs then being kept on for a year might disrupt his ambitions as none of these clubs will wait and will recruit from elsewhere instead. No other club out of these will pay £50m for a defender, so his chances of a fat salary and of trophies will die. His best bet now is to force a move otherwise he will be remembered as just another footballer who made a comfortable living out of the game but had few worthy medals to show for it.

If he is one of the Top 4 CBs in the league and he's only 25 (soon 26) he's going to cost 60 million plus
