What book are you reading now / or recommend?

Catch 22 is in my all-time top 2 along with The Age of Reason by Sartre.
Ellroy's American Tabloid has two sequels, The Cold 6,000 - excellent - and Blood's a Rover - not to good, little bit repetitive.
Shot Through the Heart by Gary Gilmore's brother, a Rolling Stone writer, is ignored as well as superb.

Another vote here for American Tabloid and the cold 6000, Elroy's LA quartet are very good as well, although I have none on the go at the moment James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series of books are another slice of evovactive American crime but based in the Deep South, there must be about 20 to go through
