Poor quality video, but as I recall, Andy Gray got two with diving headers in this game. Wonderful Everton side, that was - one of my faves (outside of City of course :) )

EDIT - much better video of the game. Gray, two diving headers. Then a terrific third goal - Bracewell's cross-field volley pass reminds me of Silva's to Dzeko in the 6-1.

I was only a few months old at that point. What a day I bet that was!

This was a cracker. NYE 1977, five days after Colin Bell's comeback against Newcastle. There was a rare win at Boro sandwiched between the two home games, as well.

True but how many, as originally asked are now seen compared to sticking a pointless leg out to stretch for a cross when even a decade ago player would dive in.

just seems very rare nowadays

Remember my dad telling me as a kid Gordon Davies was good at headers then the first time I saw him he scored one, after that I thought every corner or cross he would score a header :)
I was only about 6 or 7 though :)
