What is a 7 Day NHS?

The tories despise the NHS because it makes the proles better.

Lots of tories (and some labour progress members) are happy to see people's health go by the way as they support private health companies taking over.

Yay! Virgin care. Pictures of beardy and happy slogans to say you are their priority unless you can't pay for their treatment....

They want to take us back to the feudal system.

As far as I'm understanding it's basically saying as far as the NHS is concerned every day will be a working day meaning no extra pay for unsociable hours. So at the minute a doctor in a hospital who worked Saturday or Sunday would get Tim and a half or double pay for nights.
And the buzz word of junior doctor is very misleading to the general person, a junior doctor is basically the same qualification as your GP, they are all the Doctors who work on the wards, in a+e and perform surgery etc but don't yet have a specific field or specialism.

All the things the government are suggesting regarding working extra hours etc the "junior doctors" have already been doing which is why there has been a social media campaign by them to show the hours they put in.
The junior doctors thing is extremely misleading. It's leads the general public to think it's doctors just out of training, maybe still in training. That's bullshit.

The Mail and Mirror will now go head to head in the bending the truth department. I wonder what back door deals are going on with Murdoch to get his backing?

Yes your completely right these are fully qualified doctors who have spent years training and save live day in day out, just another way of the government cutting costs while they have a summer home etc payed for by us the public.

The thing people fail to realise is this will effect everyone in the long run because if this passes then it will inevitably be the end to extra pay for so called unsociable hours, no more double time or time and a half for shift workers.

Oh aye, that is certainly the end game. If doctors can take less, then so can everyone else. It's blindingly obvious. Even consultants must be worried!

There is no doubt the tories have been talking to their mouthpiece.

Do you wear a cloth cap?

No but it looks like you and jeremy will be touching cloth.

The conservative government once again changing the working class citizens working benefits for the worse, just like the witch in the 80's, the inevitable outcome being working class citizens having a 24/7 standard pay week. Gone are the days of Sunday being a day of rest!

I've held several salaried positions that has meant I have to work Saturday and Sunday when needed for no extra money.

I'm at a loss how you can want to be a doctor yet only want to work Monday to Friday and then want extra money for working weekends or nights?

Unfortunately the day of rest disappeared a long time ago. I'm sure this is how some of the argument will be played out in the media.

When they signed the contracts it was for extra money for unsocial hours, nights, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.I worked pretty much every christmas in 20yrs and the exta bit of money made up for it.Now the tories are changing the contracts and those NHS workers all have rights so are rightly sticking up for themselves,a knackered dr may have to try and save your life one day thats why the extra hours are not on either
