What on earth is going on at Stockport County?

It's a complicated story but in a nutshell, they were bought by their fans in 2005. However, the previous owner kept control of Edgeley Park, denying them the most obvious asset and source of finance. They never quite got on top of the finances, depsite the fact that their strategy was profit before promotion, they took out a loan they struggled to repay. here was a big fall-out among the supporters and the people who'd driven the move to fan ownership walked away and they went into administration in 2009.

As far as I'm aware, Brian Kennedy, owner of Sale Sharks, still owns the ground.

They got royally fucked up the arse by the insolvency practitioner who dealt with the club's administration too. His fees sucked whatever life was left out of the club.

He must be a blue.

It's an ideal situation in theory - but it rarely works. Ebbsfleet tried that fan ownership thing and people got bored within a year.
