If I had said yes to visiting any of those countries on my last visa application I would probably have been refused entry, that sounds like a ban to me

There was no ban, in the past between 90,000-120,000 people from the seven countries were granted visa's for the States on an annual basis. Now they are all banned. I think the courts should let trump have his 90 day 'ban'. It won't affect any more folk than say the Saudis and Israelis banning people from entry just because they have certain other nations stamps in their passport.
Also, if the ban doesn't go ahead and there is a terrorist attack in the next four years I'm sure trump will use the "I told you so" moment to push through much more permanent and draconian legislation.
