I was recently talking to a relative who told me that a club based on the south coast of england complained when there club badge was included in the making of a funeral reef, the club had no problem with the colours being used just the badge,I can't understand why they would do this.I obviously can't verify this but he comes from the city and lived there all his life.

Maybe it is a Trademark issue and they're precious about it?

I guess there must be plenty of Funerals that the club are represented at and they do not wish people to think that they, the club were being represented.

I can understand why but think its a bit too posessive. BTW I think it is extremely generous of them to allow the club coloours to be used..... Imagine if it was Southampton.... how could they possibly object to someone laying red and white carnations???

As sad as it sounds, the club in question probably either already sells official branded club wreaths or has such plans in the pipeline. They really will stop at nothing these days to earn money. As Scorer said, it will be a trademark issue.

Like I mentioned I can't verify its true, but have no reason to disbelieve the realitive who told me,if it is true it is an absolute disgrace.Im thinking of contacting the club involved to see it is a fact that they do this.<br /><br />-- Sun Feb 20, 2011 10:14 am --<br /><br />If it is correct I would like to know if there are any other clubs with the same rule or similar.

A quick Google tells me that Derby County provide official club-branded funeral services (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.undertakers.uk.com/footballfunerals/derby-county-football-funerals.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.undertakers.uk.com/footballf ... erals.aspx</a>), so I suspect something similar is behind the conflict you mentioned on the South Coast. Sad but true.
