Win percentage with 3 at the back

It's the basic argument on this thread.

Unless the point is that we score more goals with a back 4 ?

V Leicester & Arsenal, if was 0-1 after a few minutes. Same shit both.

V Chelsea it was 1-0 at half time. Then we missed loads & ended up letting 3 in. V Boro we had 11 players back & let in a last min equaliser, v Watford, they missed from 6 fucking yards & we scored.

It's fucking bullshit that our problem is 3 at the back.

The problem has been shite defending & shite finishing, WHATEVER the system. We were fucking ABYSMAL defensivsly v Arsenal, then became average & won. We were fucking ABYSMAL v Celtic& Spurs, drew & lost. We were average then ABYSMAL v Chelsea defensively then lost.

If it turns out our defenders can learn a 4 better than & 3 prior to sacking, fucking great.

What they haven't been in any game v anybody, in any system, is good.

We score the oppo misses we win. We miss the oppo scores we draw or lose.

Same every game. If the solution is 3 4 or 6, I don't give a fuck.

Hahaha!

According to Sky Sagna has a league average of 2.7 points per game.
He's almost exclusively played in a back 4.

That's an incredible stat. Think he played in the back 3 that started at Leicester but can't think of any other occasion.

The other thing that's poignant about that stat is how bad our record must be in the last couple of years when Zabba starts.

Zaba suffers in the high line nowadays, may have been a better option after Gundogan's injury to use Maffeo as the rotation option for Sagna and Zaba as back up in midfield.

Zaba had higher ppg stats than Sagna for games started in both 14/15 and 15/16.

My advice would be don't read too much into ppg stats. The top City player in both 14/15 and 15/16 (based on 20+ starts) was Mangala. Last season alone Mangala was joint top with Navas. Cumulatively, for both seasons, the worse player was Dinho yet Dinho was (deservedly) voted our POTY on here.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that playing three centre backs is NOT an emergency response to his team’s tendency to leak goals. Guardiola has made it plain that he will retain the tactic as a distinct option when Aymeric Laporte returns. [@StuBrennanMEN]

It’s his answer to the low block freeing up the FBs to become wingbacks to start getting behind defences again

I don't think so...we haven't really been attacking with the fullbacks that much. Walker had fun for 20 minutes on Tuesday but mostly because Rashford abandoned LW to press Mendy.

I think it's his way of overloading the middle of the pitch to make us less leaky on counterattacks.

It's his answer to our inverted wingers robbing us of width, wingbacks staying wide is helping us to create the space for KDB and Bernardo centrally. Normal service resumed.
