Working out ‘relatives’ in families

Discussion in 'Off Topic' started by Stoned Rose, 13 Feb 2018.

  1. This has been doing a few of our nuts in today.

My cousin (on my mum’s side) has kids. I have a kid.

What ‘relation’ are the kids to each other?

And if both my kid and her kids subsequently have their own kids as adults (obv not with each other), what relation would they be?

    The kids are 3rd cousins.

You and one of their parents are 1st cousins. You are 2nd cousins to his kids. The kids are 3rd cousins to each other

1st cousin once removed, unless he's from Stoke or Burnley, in which case he's probably their dad.

Presumably none of them are Morrissey, so it's understandable he got it wrong.
