Pegasus Bridge well worth a visit, though I'm unsure if the original bridge is still there. Try the 360 degrees museum in Arromanches. Google Arromanches 360. But really, just driving through the Normandy countryside is enough, seeing stone bridges and walls of houses that still bear the scars of battle. Take a metal detector into the woods near Bourgebus Ridge and you'll fill your pockets with allsorts, dog tags, watches, spent cartridges, etc. Not sure now about permission requirements for that.

The actor Richard Todd was an officer in the 7th para battalion who linked up and reinforced the original glider troops. 20 years later he played Major Howard(the co in charge of taking the bridge) in The Longest Day.
