Plane threads always make Comrade Rascal exit his anorak closet. :-)

Ive lived under the flightpath all my life so they do excite me a little :)

Well, it's got to go one way or the other. Either make you hate planes or love them. I'd go in the love direction myself. One of the things on my bucket list is to get a pilot's licence and my ex got me a flying lesson in one of these babies when we were still together:

Love this photo of the AN124. Pure Thunderbirds:

How far from the station pal?

If you get off at Heald Green its probs a mile, same from the Airport station.

Next to Heald Green station is the Heald Green pub and thats a good spot to watch from. You wont see it land from there though.

Look on Google maps, the route is pretty simple.

i was always amazed at the guppy when that occaisionally landed here
i reckon it must of been taken out of service now as ive not seen one for years

The Guppy did used to be a regular visitor in the 70s and 80s to pick up airbus wings.

This was then replaced by the equally strange looking Beluga which now flies directly into Hawarden to pick up the wings.

Yeah it has. Puts Anorak on.

Airbus use a modified A300 that looks similar and because its a jet can land at Chester rather than them transfering wings by road to Manchester.

This is the A300 Beluga

So that's what it is!! I was driving along A483 through Chester a few weeks back and seen this flying above me.
