Leeds v City Charity Shield 1969, I was 13, went with a mate Billy on a manchester to leeds coach, coach dropped us off near ground instead of bus station in city centre.

After match could not find way to coach station so decided to hitch back to Manchester-got to Huddersfield, ended in walking down a Manchester Road in Huddersfield thinking if we carry on will get to Manchester, this was after midnight-cops picked us up on road and took us to police station. Billy's dad had to drive over in middle of night to pick us up-still laugh about it now

Munich this season, just because it took 22 hours sat on a coach.

Middlesbrough away twice, the
Fog match and the snow match. Full time in Poznan we walked past all the buses outside thinking they was taking fans back to the airport. We walked from the ground to the town centre, it took about 2 hours through some proper dodgy areas. We found a pub which we thought was gonna be ok until the local polish lads found out we was English. We was glad when we got back to Berlin the next day.

Villa away in the fa cup when a youthful Micah scored a last minute equaliser, few blues ran onto the pitch to celebrate including my old man who got nicked! I didn't know this so just had to randomly wait till about midnight as he was driving.. Nightmare at the time!

Having just read the City Spurs 4-3 thread and deciding it was proably the best away game I have attended, it made me think of the worst.

Mine was losing 4-0 to Brighton in the FA Cup in 1983. I was studying at Nottm and had three mates that supported Brighton. We decided we must go to the game. It was dire. We were hammered and i think it was Nicky Reid that got sent off. I think Bond resigned soon after and in effect we went on a slide after this game that saw us relegated for the first time since I had been wtaching City.

The worse thing was I had a 4 hour journey back home with 4 "Seagulls". Nightmare.

What's your worse away game.

In terms of difficult as in conditions ie weather and not embarrasment etc, then Wigan at home this season with all the snow was horrendous. Getting home after being anahlilated at the Swamp 5-0 in the early 90's was pretty grim.

Gotta be Southend, Full Member's Cup, 0-0 score on a Tuesday night, with loads of Chelsea fans hovering outside. Their ground's a real schlep to get to.
But after the game, we walked round the front and the caterers were unloading their vans, so one lad who was with us picked up a tray of sarnies & walked up the steps into the hospitality suite. Vic Jobson (their chairman) realised we were city fans & invited us in for a butty & a pint.

This was Jimmy Frizzell's first match in charge (after Billy Mc), and one of our lads saw him outside & said "We're right behind you, Mr Frizzell" & he turned round and said "Hey.........it's Jimmy" in his dour Scottish voice.

Must've got back about 4 in the morning! Happy days...

I was at that Southend game ... i finally got back home about 5am , had an hours sleep , then got up for work !

Other bad ones .... Oxford away , pouring rain , 0-0 draw .... soakin' wet trousers on coach all the way home !

Watford away ....... train caught fire on way home , had only got about 300 yards out of Watford ground 'halt' station too!

Driving back over the Pennines after losing 2-1 to Sheffield United in the FA Cup in 2008. I saw a very bad side of City fans that day, and the drive back was sodding miserable as well.

I think i was still pissed from the oktoberfest all the way back home in the car from munich.
So wasn't so bad.
I remember having to go to the toilet on the side of the autobahn, genuinely thought i was gonna get kidnapped by a crazy german and be made into a human centipede.
And then on the ferry with a load of other blues everyone was just pissed. So i'd have put that up there with the best of them.

There were plenty of horrible journeys home back in the darker days during the nationwide football league days.
But it was all good fun.

Worst journey I did was after the 2-2 with Pompey, the week before we got promoted at Blackburn.

City put a train on. There was no booze. It took about 7 hours to get back. I was sat with some right bores too.

that was one tedious journey.

I remember that well. Left at 8:30am from Picc and got back God knows what time. Train stopped in London for about an hour on the way back. We got to Portsmouth about 1:15pm - it definitely took longer coming back. Think I got in about 1-2am.

We were cruising in that game as well. Bloody Lee Bradbury.
