was very intimidating, you had to come in numbers to have any chance of getting in & out, got caught out once myself, running like a headless chicken round the back streets, remember that big old boozer on the corner cant remember its name, got sussed walking passed it, fuck standing and fighting when theres only half a dozen of you, run like you life depended on it, and it usually did

how sad that football was ever like that, or worse it could return.

Fully agree mate, had a cracking day yesterday at West Ham. How bad did that used to be.

Remember the season we were promoted at Bradford?

A little earlier that season we played Chelsea at home in what was billed as the championship decider. The game finished in a very unflattering win to them 3-2 because they killed us on the pitch.
Anyway, I worked for a southern company a few years later and was talking to a Chelsea fan. He said after that game, he and his mates ran from Maine Road to Piccadilly and were chased all the way.

Fucking hell that's 2 miles City fans were chasing them just to give them a kicking...

My first ever game at Maine Road that was.

They went 3-0 up in that game too.

Remember driving through the backstreets before a game against Villa. As we turned the corner 3 lads were trying to bundle a guy into the boot of a car. I had a mate with me who was a Villa fan and he shit him self!

Weren't some blues notorious for, ahem, ball popping as well? Or, nut cracking as some might say.

Used to work with a Spurs supporter and in the early nineties we were both up north for a wedding in Wigan.
We missed the service and watched City lose to Spurs 0-1,he didn't celebrate even though we were only in the Main Stand, and as we walked to town we went into those sub-ways near the Mancunian way ,as we rounded the corner the police were taping the area off after a stabbing don't know if it was drug or football related.
When we reached the buffet at the train station he ordered a double brandy and necked it in one and couldn't stop shaking for ages.
That's when I realised how imtimadating the place was, though it had nothing on the Den imo.
