I got a leaflet through the door about this only yesterday. What they plan to do to that area is nothing short of sensational. It is quite a nice place to walk anyway, even without a new attraction.
The amount of people that will visit Clayton Vale, both professionally and with children will be staggering.

I was reading the latest Swiss Ramble blog and it sparked a question about City.

The article is about PSG, but he makes comparisons with other clubs, and in relation to Arsenal he wrote:

Arsenal make 35% of their match day revenue from just 9,000 premium seats at the Emirates stadium.

He had already stated that Arsenal makes over £100 million a year in matchday receipts, so that implys they get about £35+ million from 'premium' seats.

I've read (on this thread I'm sure) that the Etihad could accomodate a few/several thousand extra seats in the north and south stands as it is. Not sure how reliable this info is, but I seem to remember thinking it sounded reliable at the time.

Putting two and two together I wondered if the club might -as a short to medium term fix - think about adding those extra seats and swapping around some ST holders from the better seats to create more 'premium' seats with the minimum of fuss. Even if we only got half of Arsenal's 9,000, and then half the ticket price for them, you could be looking at the best part of £10 million, probably more.

A nice amount to earn as a quick return on a smallinitial outlay?

Their the seats that are always empty though? on match days its always the big blue chairs about the dugout that are empty?

When I started reading that I thought you meant at the Emirates, then I read blue chairs and wondered if you mean at the Etihad?

I would imagine 'premium' seats would be level 2, especially along the main stands. Surely there is more than enough interest in 'corporate' type seating these days?

Just seen this on SkyScaperCity, it's the plans for the Manchester 2000 olympics bid, there's a few design plans for what our stadium was going to be. I found them quite interesting. Sorry if already posted.

Very excited re: Mountain bike trail centre. I used to use the velodrome regularly and will definitely use the trail MTB facilities. It firmly cements Manchester as the cycling HQ of the UK. All that is missing sport-wise from Sportcity is an Olympic size pool and an ice rink.

Thought a new lido was mentioned for the Grey Mare lane market plot?

This thread seems to have come to the conclusion that

1) The academy site will be built and finished including our landmark bridge.

2) In the interim while work progressing plans have either been drawn up or being drawn up regarding expansion of stadium

3) That the enlargement of stadium must at some stage include the leisure facilities or hotels casinos or sucj like on the collar site.

4) To enable the leisure side to be sucessful we will need outside partners who may or may not have been identiied such as Marriot Hotels etc

5) That the timing for such work will be delicate given the shortness of the close season but everything is possible.

6) To enable our season tickets to remain affordable the expansion should incorporate a large expansion of corporate facilities thereby increasin revenue streams on a par with our competitors.

Have I missed something?

I suspect that, as others have posted, to expand the South Stand will have to mean re-routing of Ashton New Road. It will be interesting how this pans out between the Club, Council and Residents. Lots of Planning Applications going in around the area for housing, including affordable housing schemes. Perhaps these might be used as a sweetener for potentially affected residents?

This would be a hell of a the bonus for the area, in fact a complete revamp and repair of the whole area would be good. Hopefully the rounding up and decamping of the minority that give the locals grief will coincide with this.

Amaze PR has scored a Premier League account to promote Manchester City's Etihad Stadium to potential visitors.

The Manchester agency won a six-way competitive pitch for a programme of promotional activity, including raising awareness of the club’s two most premium hospitality suites.

The newly named Connell Club will replace the club’s fine dining Boardroom offer, while The Mancunian will be overhauled to become a new, stylish setting celebrating Manchester music and people.

Amaze, which has offices in Manchester and London, will deliver a number of other projects to publicise the Etihad Stadium, bringing it into line with the stature of the Club.

Amaze PR Director Sandra McDowell said: “This is a fantastic win for us – it will be a pleasure working for a brand with such a strong heritage in Manchester and one that is forward-thinking both on and off the pitch.

“We’re looking forward to using our expertise in PR and brand engagement to drive awareness of the Etihad Stadium as an innovative 365 day-a-year event destination.”

Justice Ellis, marketing manager at Manchester City FC, said: “We conducted a thorough pitch process, and the standard of submissions was incredibly high, but when it came down to it, Amaze were best at demonstrating their understanding of our brand.

“That, along with and their creativity and passion really made the team stand out.”

I have to admit the Olympic Village looks pretty tip top...if anything planned for the 'greater campus' area (anything outside the training camp) looks half that good I'll be happy.
I know there were suggestions this area might be even more 'grander' than in East London, but that remains too see...
